In the Spotlight

Only two more days and we will be in our new house! I can't wait! In the meantime, here are some pics of what you all have made using Happy Together Tutorials/Patterns. Enjoy :)

There is a new blogger in town and I think you all will really like her! Her name is Nina of Pretty Little Projects. She just started getting into sewing and did a Mod Sailor Dress and a Ruffle Dress for her daughter.

I just love the rhinestone additions that Heather did to her nursery rhyme onesies!

Pretty pink party invitations inspired by the baby shower ones. From Viviana via Facebook.

A pretty little dress...military bias dress gone owls by Hannah via Facebook. It makes me want do do this dress in different fabrics for my daughter now.

Anneke had embroidered this flower motif and went looking for something to do with it. She found the sweetheart pincushion and used her piece in the heart part. Perfect :)

Laura & Joe's Baby Shower: Pinks and Yellows

I want to say a big thank you real quick to all who have offered their information on our soon to be new living area. I'm catching up on my emails too :)
*******************************************************************************************
So this past weekend was our last big event here in Jacksonville. We threw a surprise baby shower for friends of ours and boy (or should I say girl?), was it fun!!!! They are a Coast Guard family with no family here, so of course we had to do something. Just like some of you ladies said when you wrote me, us military families have to stick together!

Yellow Bow Invitations

I created some fun invitations for the shower. Simple but cute.

I bought two types of flowers and spread them out everywhere because our house is pretty much packed up except for the furniture and some necessities. Some paper doilies cut in half also graced the shelves.

Decorating our bare shelves

Then there were the table decorations.

Lots of tissue balls hung on a line of clear fishing wire. I found the pretty pink hounds-tooth kind from Hobby Lobby.

The table cloth was actually a piece of fabric I had scooped up at a yard sale about three years ago. It was perfect! I put some scrapbook paper on the wall too.

Where "Mom" sat

For the Mom to be's chair, I placed a sign and a pendant banner (which was just tissue paper triangles glued onto string). No one could take her nice comfy seat.

There were lots of yummy foods to eat,

sweet drinks,

and lots of gifts!

I made a few things for the soon to be here little girl. I had the octopus already to go (pattern here),

and I gave her some of the crochet hair bows I had and made some new felt bow hair clips.

Burp cloths and bibs are always good too :)

And of course, the little ones just had to help her open all of her gifts.

I even talked them into letting me take some pictures of them. I never had many pictures of my pregnancy and always regret that, so I am always more than happy to take pictures for my friends and family for special times and events in their lives. Below are some of my favorites.

Ever Changing

I can say for sure that there is no lack of change in my life. The past few years have held so many changes for me and I am about to encounter yet another.

yay! He's headed for flight school :)

My handsome hubby went and got accepted into flight school this past spring. Exciting, right? (He's hoping to get helo's, but I wouldn't mind if he got that or fixed wing). He is a manly man. He has to be doing the exciting stuff :) No behind the desk for this one! If he can help it ;). So, we are in the process of moving. We aren't going too far, just to the other side of Florida, near Pensacola. We visited there last week and I am intrigued. It is a lot more laid back where we are going to live. There is one street with the main stores. One Walmart. One Target. No fabric stores that I saw :(. I'm hoping the Walmart there carries fabric, or else I will have to drive a ways or order online. But, I'm looking forward to it. I had a good feeling when we were there. I think God will use it as a time to do some good things. I just can't believe this is our 4th move in 4 years. I feel like a pro when it comes to packing. (Yes, we like to do dity moves, at least so far).
I just wanted to share because I will probably be a bit absent once we move out and are in the process of moving in, which will be soon! There will be some posts, but once we are in and settled, things will be back to normal. I'm off to think about my little family's new adventure......

Girly Zebra

I love simple little changes to clothing.

All smiles :)

Like just adding a ruffle to a t-shirt to make it a dress.

Funny face time

Then my little girl got a fun girly zebra dress to wear to the Animal Kingdom at Disney.

Princess for a Night

We are back from a fun filled trip to Disney World!!!!! And we had a blast!

Of course, we had to have dinner with the princesses one night. I decided I wanted to try and make my daughter a dress for it instead of buy one.

She was back and forth between Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, but in the end, Cinderella won.

I made a pattern and then just went for it.

She received a lot of compliments on it, especially from the princesses. All the other girls had on the store bought ones, so she stuck out.

with Belle

With Sleeping Beauty

She was in heaven that night.

With Jasmine

And was completely awe struck when Cinderella came out. She talked like crazy to all the others, but couldn't say a word to Cinderella.

In awe of Cinderella

So cute! It made my week :)

The Twirl n' Go Skirt Pattern Giveaway (CLOSED) & Release

The Twirl n' Go Skirt Pattern by Happy Together

Hi everyone :) Yet again, here is another pattern I am super excited to have all done. It's another one I started back in April and took a while to finish it up.

The Twirl n' Go Skirt Pattern by Happy Together

If you don't know, I have this really long list of things to finish and I'm really trying to tackle those things before I do some new things (of course, I just can't help myself sometimes though :).

I created this skirt because of my daughter. She is my muse when it comes to all things little girl. When she started getting into dressing up and all, I really wanted to make her one of those pretty fluffy nylon chiffon petticoat skirts. Well, I didn't find any locally and I was too impatient to order some of that material, so I came up with a skirt that could be just as fun and twirly and all with using other kinds of available fabrics.

All the kids at the park said the girls looked like princesses

The purple and blue skirts were the first two I made. When we did the photo shoot with my daughter and one of her friends at the park, all the little ones fell in love! They were all like, "Look at the princesses!" It was the cutest thing! I really have no idea how I got a few pictures without other little kids in the picture.

The Twirl n' Go Skirt Pattern by Happy Together

I then had to make one for my friend's little girl. Full skirts are so cute on the itty bitty ones!

Then, for a friend's older daughter, we made it more "big girl" with bright colored knits and sporadic ruffles.

The Twirl n' Go Skirt Pattern by Happy Together

The skirt is the waistband with the skirt being all one piece of fabric. That makes this a one seam twirly skirt!!!!! Easy and quick! Or not so quick if you decided to go crazy with the ruffles.

The Twirl n' Go Skirt Pattern by Happy Together

But have no fear! I share my tricks on how to do the ruffles in a time efficient manner and all.

The Twirl n' Go Skirt Pattern by Happy Together

There are a few options shown that I share more details on in the pattern, but you can embellish it in so many ways.

The skirt can be worn alone or add some leggings and boats for the fall/winter.
