Happy Together: Crossing Off on My List

About 3 weeks I began working on Christmas gifts. I love making gifts. Unfortunately, I usually do not give myself enough time to do everything I want. I tried to give myself more time this year, but I won't sweat it much if I still don't finish because I feel like I've done so much this year compared to other years. So, first up to share are these four dresses I made for some adorable little girls in my family. I used the As You Like it Pattern.

Once I finished the dresses, I felt like adding some embellishments to two. I went to my trusty box of little crocheted and fabric flowers that I make every now and then. I was pretty happy when I had matching things for the dresses!

I added two loops of mini pompom trim to look like leaves.

This one got a few yo-yo's on it. This one was one of my favorites color wise.

The last two I left plain. Mostly because they are for little ones and I wouldn't want them to be tempted to pull the accessory off.

I am also super proud to say that I didn't have to buy a single thing to make these. I scrounged through my fabric and had a make it work moment!!!! It was a very fulfilling moment might I add.

I love it when I am able to give a handmade gift that is not only priceless to the recipient, but FREE for me! :) It's one of the great joys of being creative and crafty. I love the abandon with which you've combined color and pattern here. Really lovely!

It's awesome that you were able to use the fabric you already had. Christmas often ends up costing more than expected so it's great to be creative in order to address gift giving.

Those are so pretty! Would you recommend that pattern to someone who doesn't sew clothing often? I want to make some clothes for the girls in my family.

I totally dig those "make it work" moments. It almost make you more pround of what you made. Great work... the dresses are beautiful!!!

I would. I wrote it with all levels of sewers in mind and the pattern testers help make sure it is super clear to understand.

I know you said you used up fabric you already had on hand but I was just wondering where you buy your fabric from? I just love the bright colors and fun prints. I especially love the green apples and would like to make a dress with that fabric if you remember where it is from.

I love these so much! Gosh why can I can not still be 5 years old so I could wear one? Good job and especially good job for using fabric you already had. I need to get better at doing that..

Some came from JoAnn's, but the green apple print is one by Sandi Henderson. The flower print on the first dress is by Heather Bailey, as is the flower print on the next dress. The brown on that next one is by Michael Miller. The stripes was a yard sale find. More Heather Bailey fabric is on the next and the last one has fabric from Walmart and JoAnn's. Hope this helps :)
