Dress Up Monday: My Main Squeeze

6.14.2010

It's the start of a new week and it's a hot one here today! This little top was meant to be a dress, but I didn't have quite enough fabric for that. I really wanted to make my daughter something with this fabric, so I went forth anyways.

I made it quickly one night while she was on a daddy date, so I wasn't quite sure how the fit would be. But, I'm pleased with the outcome.

My daughter likes it too!

It was a really simple design. My favorite thing is how the top is held together with buttons and ribbon loops. I feel it adds a unique quality to it.

Now, what to make for next week.....

Fabric: I bought it at JoAnn's, but I think it's in the Alexander Henry line.
Pattern: One I made myself.

I bought the fabric from JoAnn's, but I'm pretty sure the lemon fabric is a Alexander Henry print. As for the pattern, it's one I made myself.

  13. LOVE this! Saw it in a Flickr pool first. I just saw this lemon fabric at Joanns and was thinking,"huh!" It's surprising to come across designer fabrics there. Now that I see your darling tunic I think I have to go back and get it! What a cute design. Would love it if you decide to produce it for sharing/selling. I'm now following...

  15. Thanks for letting me know what fabric it is. I am in Australia so will search online for it, as for you making up the pattern you are so clever. I love the sleeves, how they fold over. I will take my beginner sewing skills and just be happy with using that material perhaps for summer dresses for my girls. Thanks so much.
